Many people think that the solution to a good ergonomic desk is an adjustable chair. An adjustable chair is only one step in solving the ergonomic problems in a home office or business workstation to help prevent stress injuries like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, neck and back pain.
For the best computer desk posture, you need to address both a chair that is your correct ergonomic height and a desk that is the correct ergonomic height to obtain a perfect ergonomic workstation like the NelZone. Bumping up a chair’s height to compensate for an incorrect desk height is not only uncomfortable but places strain on the lower back and hip flexors. Follow my easy measurement system to correctly determine the correct height for your NelZone desk.
If you are ordering a SITTING NelZone: To determine your keyboard height, first make sure your feet are flat on the floor with your chair adjusted to the height where your knees are at a 90° angle. Next, keep your upper arms in line with your torso and your elbows/arms at a 90° angle, then measure the distance to the floor to obtain the correct keyboard height. If the desk is the right height, your hands should rest comfortably on the desk at your keyboard height.
Similarly, if you are ordering a STANDING NelZone: Determine the keyboard height. Keep your upper arms in line with your torso and your elbows/arms at a 90° angle, measure the distance to the floor to obtain your correct keyboard height. If the desk is the right height, your hands should rest comfortably on the desk at your keyboard height. If you are using a support chair in the Standing NelZone, adjust your chair first and then follow the above instructions.
Keyboard Height: The height of where your hands rest comfortably on the keyboard to the floor.
Desk Height: From the top of the desk to the floor.
